Young climate change activists like the sixteen year old Swede Greta Thunberg, are making a difference and influencing change.
That’s according to the Sinn Fein MEP Lynn Boylan. She was speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg where yesterday Greta Thunberg delivered an impactful address to MEPs.
She told them Europe needs to do a lot more to tackle the ravages of climate change.
Lynn Boylan says MEPs are taking Greta seriously.

A political group in the European Parliament is ramping up climate change action.
The GUE-NGL Group which represents left-wing parties in the Parliament is today launching its climate emergency manifesto.
The Group says it’s in response to the youth climate strike and recent calls from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for urgent action to avert climate catastrophe.
The Sinn Fein MEP Lynn Boylan who is a member of the GUE/NGL Group explains what their manifesto is recommending.

The Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness has strongly criticised An Taisce’s recent resource pack that encourages secondary school children to promote meat free Mondays.
The pack on Climate action, which was developed by An Taisce, also advocates veganism and the consumption of less dairy products. It’s available to school teachers to download as part of An Taisce’s Green Schools programme.
However Mairead McGuinness says it sends out the wrong message.

The Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg has called on the European Parliament to take action now while there is still time to reverse the ravages of climate change.
The sixteen year old who inspired the worldwide “School Strike for Climate” met MEPs today from the Parliament’s Environment Committee in Strasbourg.
She said young people can do a range of things to tackle climate change.
