Ireland’s new EU Commissioner Mairead McGuinness will be getting ready to take up her new job in Brussels shortly.
The European Parliament yesterday voted overwhelmingly to endorse her approval for the position of EU Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and Capital Markets Union.
And the European Council is set to give McGuinness the green light at a Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Monday.

A long-awaited EU plan to get more women on company boards needs to get moving according to Dublin MEP Frances Fitzgerald
The Directive was first proposed in 2012 and calls for non-executive boards to be made up of at least 40 per cent women.
However, its rollout has been blocked by a number of member states in the European Council.
