The European Parliament can’t be seen to block any Brexit deal according to Fine Gael’s Seán Kelly.
His comments come after some MEPs raised concerns that they might not have enough time to scrutinise an agreement before the December 31st deadline.
A deal could also be applied provisionally, meaning Parliament would not have to ratify it until the new year.

The European Parliament has adopted a new law which links access to EU cash to respecting its fundamental values.
The rule of law mechanism came about over concerns that countries like Hungary and Poland were backsliding on democratic values.
Both countries objected to the clause and threatened to block the long-term budget and COVID recovery fund, but a compromise was finally reached.
