The EU cannot give into unrealistic Greek demands to ease its debt burden. That’s according to the Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes who was speaking ahead of tomorrow’s crucial meeting of Eurozone finance ministers in Brussels. Mr Hayes says Greece has to be realistic about the kind of debt agreement the eurozone finance ministers will accept.

It’s unlikely that Eurozone finance ministers will agree on any debt write-down deals for Greece. So says the Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes who was speaking ahead of tomorrow’s crucial Eurozone finance ministers meeting in Brussels. Mr Hayes says it would be wrong for the Greek government to argue for any debt write-downs.

The days when you could speed on roads on the European continent and avoid getting penalised back home are coming to an end. The European Parliament will this week vote on a new EU law that will enable EU countries to exchange vehicle registration data to ensure traffic offenders are punished. If, as expected, the law is passed then Ireland will have to implement it from May 2016. The laws will also apply to foreign European drivers committing traffic offences on Irish roads. The Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune – who is on the European Parliament’s transport committee explains.

A Sinn Fein MEP is accusing Fine Gael’s Brian Hayes of being ignorant, out of touch with reality and someone who doesn’t know what’s happening on the ground in Ireland. Ms Boylan expressed her strong criticism of the Dublin MEP following comments he made about Sinn Fein distorting the realities of the economic crash in Ireland and the subsequent austerity measures. Mr Hayes has accused Sinn Fein of blaming Europe for problems caused by previous Irish governments. But Lynn Boylan says he’s not making any sense.

A spat has broken out between Sinn Fein’s Lynn Boylan and the Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes. Ms Boylan has rubbished claims by Mr Hayes that left wing parties in Ireland such as Sinn Fein are distorting the realities of what caused Ireland’s economic problems and the subsequent austerity measures introduced as a result of the crash. In an interview with EuroParlRadio Mr Hayes said that the likes of Sinn Fein were blaming Europe for problems caused by previous Irish governments. But Lynn Boylan says Mr Hayes doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
