MEPs today voted on a resolution on future EU-UK relations post Brexit. The draft resolution lays out the European Parliament’s position on a possible framework for a future relationship between the EU and the UK after Brexit. Ireland is mentioned several times in the document. It specifically refers to preserving the Good Friday Agreement in all its parts. And it stresses that there should be no hardening of the border on the island of Ireland. The Independent MEP Marian Harkin says that Ireland’s interests are being kept high up on the Brexit agenda.

MEPs in the European Parliament today voted on a resolution that lays out the European Parliament’s position on a possible framework for future post-Brexit EU-UK relations. The draft resolution which has been prepared by the European Parliament’s Brexit Steering Group, suggests that an association agreement between Britain and the EU could provide an appropriate framework for the future. The Independent MEP Marian Harkin says the UK needs to provide a lot more detail for a proper agreement to be brokered.

Mr Halawa has been attending a conference in the Parliament on the human rights situation in Egypt. He’s been telling MEPs about his harrowing experiences behind bars in Cairo. Mr Halawa was finally released from prison last October. In an interview with EuroParlRadio he explained how his time incarcerated in Egypt means a return to normal life is not possible.
