Any concession on a UK wide backstop to deal with the border in Brexit talks, “doesn’t come for nothing”.
That’s the view of Sinn Fein MEP Lynn Boylan , as Cabinets in Dublin and in London meet today to discuss the text of a draft deal on a Withdrawal Agreement.
Any deal needs to be agreed soon in order to facilitate an EU Leaders Summit on Brexit later this month.
Dublin MEP Lynn Boylan says in negotiations, the UK couldn’t have access to all the benefits of the EU without giving something in return:

New EU wide targets on renewable energy have been labelled disappointing by Sinn Fein.
MEPs meeting in Strasbourg voted in favour of new measures aimed at tackling climate change.
However, some members of the parliament believe the targets have been watered down since they were first suggested.
A binding EU wide target of 32 per cent renewables by 2030 was backed by MEPs earlier.
Dublin MEP Lynn Boylan says there will be no incentive for Ireland to meet that objective:

A European wide emergency text alert system is being considered by MEPs this week.
The ‘reverse 112’ would allow the emergency services target messages to civilians in areas under immediate threat.
The system is in use in Belgium and it is proposed to extend the facility across the EU.

The EU remains unwavering in its support for Ireland according to Dublin MEP Brian Hayes.
As the clock ticks towards Britain’s exit from the European Union, attention remains focussed on the British Prime Minister’s efforts to secure cabinet and parliamentary support for her Brexit plan.
Intensive efforts are continuing between British and European negotiators to strike a deal on a Withdrawal Agreement.
Britain’s ability to exit any proposed backstop is a key area yet to be agreed between the parties to the talks.
Agreement has to be reached this week, if a November summit of EU leaders is to be convened to approve any deal.
Despite the uncertainty, Fine Gael MEP for Dublin , Brian Hayes, says Europe’s position on Ireland remains clear:

The government is being urged to incentivise Irish people to generate their own renewable energy, with a view to selling any excess back to the national grid.
It is after the European Parliament backed new legislation on renewable targets.
Binding targets for renewables of 32 per cent by 2030 and an indicative target for energy efficiency of 32.5 per cent have been backed by MEPs meeting in Strasbourg.
The move is part of the EU’s plan to tackle climate change.
