EuroParlRadio's editor Karen Coleman talks to the Green Party MEP Ciarán Cuffe about the vote on a Brexit resolution in the European Parliament this morning.
The majority of MEPs backed a resolution that says the current Withdrawal deal is “fair, balanced and provides legal certainty”. And it reiterated the Parliament’s support for “an orderly Brexit”.
The vote followed an intense debate on Brexit which included updates on the Brexit talks by both the president of the European Commission and the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator.

The people of Northern Ireland should be given the opportunity to vote on another referendum on Brexit.
The Green Party MEP Ciarán Cuffe made the call in the European Parliament this morning during a debate on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
The Dublin MEP says people in Northern Ireland should be given the chance to decide what options they’d prefer when it comes to Brexit.

The European Parliament voted today to support the backstop and the existing Brexit Withdrawal Agreement.
The majority of MEPs backed a resolution that says the current Withdrawal deal is “fair, balanced and provides legal certainty”. And it reiterated the Parliament’s support for “an orderly Brexit”.
MEPs pledged to reject any Withdrawal Agreement without the backstop.
The Green Party MEP Ciaran Cuffe says the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier is very frustrated with the British government.

The president of the European Commission told the European Parliament this morning that the risk of a no deal Brexit is palpable.
Jean-Claude Juncker talked about his meeting with Boris Johnson on Monday. He said the British PM told him that he continues to want an agreement. But Mr Juncker said Mr Johnson stressed that whatever happens, the UK will leave the EU with our without a deal on October the thirty first.
MEPs in the European Parliament are today voting on a resolution on the UK’s withdrawal from the UK.

The Fianna Fail MEP Billy Kelleher is calling for a detailed analysis of the beef market and industry in Ireland.
His calls follow last weekend’s marathon talks to resolve the dispute between farmers and the beef industry.
The Ireland South MEP says it’s regrettable that a conclusion hasn’t yet been reached. And he’s warning that farmers can’t continue to sustain long-term price losses.

The Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly is urging farmers involved in the beef disputes to accept the agreement brokered over the weekend.
It was reached after marathon talks to agree increased prices for beef farmers along with a reform of the sector.
However, not all farmers supported the agreement.
Sean Kelly says farmers should accept the deal and then review in six month’s time.

The Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness says it’s unlikely any progress will be made on the Brexit talks until the UK Conservative party holds its annual conference.
She was speaking in the European Parliament where tomorrow the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier will discuss the latest round of Brexit talks with MEPs.
The UK prime minister Boris Johnson met with the president of the European Commission yesterday in Luxembourg. However, the EU says the UK still hasn’t provided any working alternatives to the backstop in the Brexit withdrawal agreement.
