The Irish government needs to pull together all its departments to prepare for an influx of Ukrainian refugees – that’s according to a former Tánaiste. Frances Fitzgerald was deputy PM and Justice Minister after the migration crisis. Then, Ireland agreed to take a quota of refugees. This time, under the Temporary Protection Directive, any number of Ukrainians can come to live, work and study in any EU country for at least a year. Former Tánaiste, Fine Gael MEP, Frances Fitzgerald, says Ireland is doing its bit for those who want to come here, but the numbers are hard to predict.
