Europe will need a strong long-term budget as well as the proposed seven hundred and fifty billion (€750bn) EU Recovery plan to deal with the enormous challenges in the years ahead.
So says the Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness who is the first vice president of the European Parliament.
The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen yesterday announced details of the recovery plan which she’s calling Next Generation EU. The Commission is proposing the funds be distributed to member states through a mix of grants and loans.
The Commission is also calling for a revamped long-term EU budget that will run from 2021 to 2027 to be worth €1.1 trillion euro.
Mairead McGuinness says Europe will need as much money as possible to deal with the multiple challenges ahead.
