The €750bn Covid recovery fund is a welcome and historic deal. So says the Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune.
The European Parliament this week debated the outcome of the recent 4-day EU Summit which ended on Tuesday morning.
The EU Council agreed a seven hundred and fifty billion euro (€750bn) Covid recovery fund which is being called Next Generation EU. Three hundred and ninety billion euro (€390bn) will be given out in grants. The rest will be distributed through loans.
Ireland is set to get around €1.3bn (one point three billion euro) in grants from the fund.
Deirdre Clune says it was an achievement to get the 27 leaders to all agree on the terms of the recovery package.
