A major EU initiative engaging citizens, politicians, EU institutions, civil society groups and more from across the EU mustn’t end up being a big talking shop and a waste of time.
That’s the warning from one of a handful of Irish people picked to take part in one of four European Citizens’ panels that are part of the Conference on the Future of Europe. It’s a year-long initiative involving European citizens, from all walks of life and corners of the Union with young people playing a central role, in shaping the future of the European project.
Geraldine Burke-Geary, who’s a retired civil servant from the West of Ireland, is taking part in the final debate of her panel which is taking place in Dublin Castle this weekend. Education, agriculture and fishing were some of the topics she was particularly interested in discussing.
