Brexit extension will “poison” European elections – Verhofstadt

The six month UK-Brexit extension that was agreed by the European Council last week runs the risk of poisoning the European elections and putting EU unity at risk.

That’s the verdict of the European Parliament’s chief Brexit co.ordinator – Guy Verhofstadt.

He was speaking during a debate in the Parliament this morning on the outcome of last week’s summit which saw the EU agree to give the UK a six month extension of Article 50.
