Brave footballers praised, England criticised

Iranian footballers “showed incredible courage” compared to their English counterparts, says Barry Andrews. Iran’s national team refused to sing their national anthem. It is thought they were showing solidarity for anti-regime protests. Meanwhile, England players backed down from their plan to wear armbands in support of LGBT people. In a speech to the European Parliament, Dublin MEP, Barry Andrews, said Iran may have been defeated in the match, but their action was a victory.
