The EU’s new COVID travel rules will come into effect in Ireland on November 8th.
The traffic light system is aimed at re-opening international travel in a safe way.
Countries will be classed as red, amber or green depending on COVID incidence rates.
Those coming from a green country won’t have to self-isolate while those travelling from a red zone will still have to restrict their movements for 14 days.
Passengers arriving from an orange country will not face restrictions if they have a certified negative test.
Fine Gael MEP Maria Walsh says it means some Irish people abroad will be able to come home for Christmas.
