European Parliament approves Terrorism committee – Hayes

The European Parliament today voted to establish a temporary committee on counterterrorism. The new committee will examine the extent of the terrorist threat in Europe and look into any potential faults and malfunctions which might have allowed recent terrorists attacks in Europe to occur. Opponents of the committee claim it will be hijacked by ‘right-wingers’ who’ll use it to propose more law enforcement and security laws. However, the Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes is in favour of the committee’s establishment.
