An EU initiative may enable more of us to enjoy free wifi in public spaces in the future. That’s according to the Sinn Fein MEP Liadh Ni Riada who is a member of the European Parliament’s Budget Committee. This week MEPs in the Committee approved the scheme that aims to provide funding for the rollout of free wifi in certain public places. The next step will be to secure the backing of the majority of the MEPs in the European Parliament for it to be officially approved. However Liadh Ni Riada is confident that will happen. She now explains.
