The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes is urging the Government to sell its stake in Bank of Ireland before the end of the year. Speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the Dublin MEP said the timing is right for the State to sell the fourteen percent (14%) stake it has in the Bank. He reckons that stake is worth around one to one point five billion euro (€1bn-€1.5bn). And, he’s advising that the monies from the sale go to the new Rainy Day Fund.
